DICOM device inventory · Vendor-neutral

XyDromatics Device Registry — every connected device, catalogued.

An always-current inventory of every DICOM device on your imaging network — built automatically from the traffic you already send.

Deployed as a metadata-only DICOM destination behind any vendor’s router, it reads each device’s network and equipment identity from the associations and image headers it sees, then discards the object. Pixels and patient identifiers are dropped on receipt — the registry keeps device metadata only, with no PHI at rest.

The problem it solves

Nobody has a definitive list of what’s connected.

Without a device registry

The device inventory lives in a spreadsheet that goes stale the day a modality is swapped, a workstation is re-imaged, or a vendor pushes a software update. What is actually on the network — and what version it is running — is anyone’s guess.

When a device starts sending malformed objects or quietly drops off, you reconstruct the fleet from memory and firewall logs, because there was never one authoritative record to begin with.

With Device Registry

The registry builds itself from the DICOM traffic you already send. Every device that connects is catalogued automatically — its make, model, serial number, software version, and where it lives on the network — and kept current as devices change.

Ask “what is connected, and is it reachable?” and get a straight answer — for a single site, or rolled up across the whole fleet in SynthInSight. All without keeping a single patient record at rest.

What it does

An inventory that keeps itself current.

Passive on the wire, vendor-neutral by design, and PHI-minimizing at rest — a metadata-only record of the devices on your imaging network.

Passive capture, behind any router

It observes the DICOM traffic you already send — it never joins the imaging path.

  • Deployed as a metadata-only DICOM destination — point any vendor's router or modality at it
  • Reads each incoming association and object, records what it needs, then discards the object
  • No change to your imaging path — it inventories, it does not route or archive studies
  • Vendor-neutral by design — works behind the Synthology fleet or any DICOM-conformant sender

Two kinds of identity

Who is on the wire, and what the equipment says about itself.

  • Network identity — Calling AE title, host / IP / port, negotiated SOP class + transfer syntax
  • Equipment identity from image headers — manufacturer, model, device serial number, software versions, station name, institution
  • Fingerprinted so the same device is recognized across IP changes (DHCP) and reconnects
  • Operator merge / split when one physical device presents under more than one identity

PHI-minimizing by design

Full DICOM comes in; only device metadata is kept.

  • Pixel data is discarded on receipt — nothing is archived
  • A positive allow-list retains only equipment + network metadata; patient identifiers are never persisted
  • No PHI at rest — the registry holds device metadata only
  • Non-device software under FD&C Act §520(o)(1)(D)

Reachability + a fleet-wide view

Answer “what is connected, and is it live?” — for one site or the whole fleet.

  • Optional C-ECHO reachability checks confirm which catalogued devices are live
  • Single-deployment inventory, scoped by institution
  • Rolls up into SynthInSight for a PHI-free device inventory across every site
  • Windows MSI + Linux tarball — deploy it wherever your imaging traffic lands

What’s new·v1.0.1.11

Know every imaging device on your network — automatically

  • Passively discovers imaging equipment from the DICOM associations they already send — nothing to install on the modalities.
  • Records equipment and network identity (manufacturer, model, serial number, software version, station, AE title, host, and negotiated capabilities), then discards the received image — it stores no pixel data and no patient identifiers.
  • A living, point-in-time inventory for asset management, migration planning, and connectivity troubleshooting across your fleet.
  • Comprehensive in-app help — each topic explains what the page does, how to do it, a worked example, and the permission it requires.
  • Ships with the approved End-User License Agreement and clears a full QA + security-test pass on the release build. Non-device software under FD&C Act §520(o)(1)(D); no clinical function.
